Tucked within the Greenfield District along United Street in Mandaluyong is Greenfield Open Park, a weekend go-to place for market-goers. People flock the park on Saturdays as it hosts the Greenfield Weekend Market, one of the weekend fairs like Legaspi Sunday Market, Sidcor Sunday Market, and Salcedo Sunday Market that have sprung around Metro Manila. Located in an open green space surrounded by plenty of neighboring shops, cafés, and restaurants, this weekend fair offers various items and bargains.

You only need a little bit of daring and some cash, of course, to get the most of what the place has to offer. (You may spend at least P100-P150 on food, plus more if you plan to shop.)

Greenfield is located in the Greenfield District along United Street in Mandaluyong. To get there by train, get off Shaw Boulevard Station and walk towards the location of the old Edsa Central. By car, take Shaw Boulevard and turn towards United Street.

Food Eventurers, Rejoice!

More popular than ever are the gourmet eats offered by food vendors. Rain or shine, food stalls line the park with an array of dishes like crispy bagnet (fried crispy pork belly), pork sisig (chopped pig and chicken liver), shawarma, barbecue, and even supplies of raw meat like longganisa (Spanish sausage) and tapa (cured beef). For healthier eats, you can purchase fresh and organic fruits and vegetables like watermelons, mangoes, eggplants, and more. You don’t have to worry about looking for a dining table because picnic tables are ready and provided for diners.

To keep the night alive, the market is serenaded by a live band. Starting at around 6:00 to 7:00 PM, live music can be heard as musicians take the stage. The grassy field then becomes a picnic spot and a place for bonding with friends and families. While visitors fill their appetite, the band plays light beats and soft music to entertain them. They also accommodate song requests from the audience.

Attend and you’ll see why this is a go-to place for shoppers. From great local products to bits and bobs, everything seems buyable! Aside from a wide selection of goods and unique finds, you can also enjoy cheap eats and acoustic beats from live bands.

The weekend market, which is free to the public, happens every Saturday at 4:00 PM until 12:00 AM, so expect massive crowds strolling around the open field during these hours.
