Spend quality time with your family with PETA’s longest running play, Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang! Fill your weekend with the family bonding activities that PETA has prepared especially for you and your loved ones.
“Lola Basyang” is the pen name of Severino Reyes, founder and editor of the Tagalog magazine Liwayway. Using the pen name, he wrote more than 400 Lola Basyang stories for the magazine about love and hate, kings and kingdoms and strange enchanted places. These stories and the image of an elderly grandmother in a rocking chair gathering her grandchildren around her for a bed time story fascinated a lot of Filipinos from generation to generation. And this has become the Philippine version of Grimm brothers and Hans Christian Andersen stories.
This children’s musical features three of Reyes’ timeless stories, “Ang Prinsipeng Mahaba Ang Ilong” (The Prince with a Long Nose), “Ang Binibining Tumalo Sa Hari” (The Young Girl Who Outwitted the King) and “Ang Kuba” (The Hunchback). The three stories explore the themes of tolerance, acceptance, intelligence and courage.
It also includes a selection of workshops that kids and parents can surely enjoy! So come and celebrate the gift of family with Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang on May 28 and 29 at the PETA Theater Center.
Tickets and workshop passes are available through Ticketworld. See the poster for more details.
