BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS!
Books are one of the greatest creations of the human race (no exaggeration). Before the rise of mobile phones and the internet, books were the only gateway to information that you could carry with you anywhere. If you’re a person who likes the smell of a new book and turning actual pages then, April 23 is a date you should be looking forward to because it’s a holiday that celebrates these wonderful creations. Snuggle up and get ready for a staycation everyone! It’s World Book Night!
A Holiday for Books?
World Book Night was originally a national celebration of reading and books in the United Kingdom. The holiday is celebrated yearly on April 23. World Book Night actually has an organization as well which gives books away across the United Kingdom. The organization focuses on prisons, libraries collages, hospitals, care homes, where they can reach those who don’t get to read often.
Now, what can people who aren’t in the UK do to celebrate the holiday? In the Philippines children across the country also don’t have access to reading or facilities that carry books. If you want to help, get your old books and donate them to those who are in need. After that you can log off from the online world and prepare yourself for a nice long staycation reading that book you always wanted to finish!
