Three Olympics Qualifying Tournaments will happen around the Globe – one will take place this July 5-10 at the Mall of Asia Arena, Philippines. The winners of each tournament will all have the last remaining tickets for the 2016 Olympic Basketball Tournament that will take place in Rio from 5-21 August 2016.
Six countries will play to win the spot – one of them is our very own Gilas Pilipinas who’ll play for two consecutive days against France (July 5 at 9PM) and New Zealand (July 6 at 9PM). The team had to win at least one game to move past the first round.
Other countries that are set to compete are: Turkey, Canada and Senegal. Two games will take place each day:
July 5 – Turkey vs France back to back with Canada vs Philippines
July 6 – Canada vs Philippines followed by Senegal vs New Zealand
July 7 – Senegal vs New Zealand and Turkey vs France
July 8 is a rest day while July 9 will be the semi-finals round. July 10 will be the finals and the winner will advance to 2016 Rio Olympics.
