Following the success of Injustice: Gods Among Us in 2013, the much awaited sequel game Injustice 2 has been confirmed to be released on May 16, 2017 for PS4 and Xbox One. The sequel was still developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Much like the first installment, a mobile version is also being developed for both the iOS and Android platform.
Apart from retaining the basic gameplay already experienced from the previous installment, Injustice 2 will also introduce a loot-dropping system known as the “Gear System”, which allows each player to customize the abilities of their characters through character-specific costume pieces that can be obtained through experience and loot after every match.
Included in the gameplay is a micro-transaction system which lets player buy “Source Crystals” using real world money to purchase cosmetic adjustments or loot items instead of waiting to obtain them through normal play.
The plot will pick up from the story of Injustice: Gods Among Us. Following the defeat of High Councilor Superman, Batman struggles to fix the society while facing remnants of the Superman’s regime who constantly seeks to restore his rule. Adding to the mayhem is a villainous group called “The Society” led by Gorilla Grodd which seeks total world domination. Braniac has also been confirmed to make a vital role in the story as he puts the Earth’s existence at risk.
Fans of DC Comics will also be pleased as 16 new characters had been confirmed to be added to the 28 playable character roster of Injustice 2 which include the likes of Black Canary, Deadshot, Doctor Fate, Firestorm, Poison Ivy and Supergirl to name a few. The game will also feature 3 additional characters that are playable via “premier skin”, which transforms existing characters into other DC Comics characters. These 3 are Green Lantern (John Stewart), Power Girl and Reverse-Flash.
Injustice 2 is scheduled for release on May 16, 2017, for PS4 and Xbox One. Pre-orders and pre-registrations are already available online at http://injustice.com. You can watch the official game trailer here:
