What: Brooklyn Nine-Nine
About Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Set in the fictional 99 Precinct of the New York City Police Department in Brooklyn, Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows a team of detectives by newly appointed Captain Raymond Holt.
Among the detectives is Jake Peralta, who frequently tops the group despite his carefree attitude, much to the annoyance of his by-the-book colleague, Amy Santiago.
Charles Boyle is a reliable but quirky detective whose emotions can sometimes go wild, in contrast to the mysterious Rosa Diaz.
The last two detectives, Michael Hitchcock and Norm Scully, are older and often incompetent.
The detectives report to Sergeant Terry Jeffords, a devoted family man who was initially afraid to go back to police work due to the fear of dying in the line of duty and leaving his children. Rounding out the precinct is administrator Gina Linetti, who values everything but her job.

For those who have watched Brookly Nine-Nine, it is safe to agree that it is the character’s personalities that make the entire show a hit!
Here are the main characters of the show and see why they are so well loved:
Detective Jacob “Jake” Peralta
Jake is an NYPD cop who’s never really had to work that hard or follow the rules too much. In spite of his carefree nature, he has the best arrest record among his colleagues. However, it isn’t until the precinct gets a new commanding officer, Captain Ray Holt, who he clashes with.
Sergeant Amy Santiago
Amy is a sergeant and a former detective at the 99th precinct of the NYPD. She is always eager to impress and is looking for a mentor to help her achieve her dream of being promoted to captain. Amy is incredibly competitive and is constantly striving to be the best.
Detective Charles Boyle
Charles is the precinct’s workhorse. He is potrayed as not that brilliant and physically gifted. However, Charles tries harder than anyone else in the group. Charles is described to be optimistic but at the same time, very critical of almost everything around him.
Detective Rosa Diaz
Rosa is considered the “tough” one of the bunch. Rosa is displayed as scary, smart, secretive, and difficult to read. Most the members are afraid and a little disturbed by her nature. However, Rosa does take pride of fact that no one knows much about her.
Detective Michael Hitchcock & Detective Norm Scully
Michael Hitchcock and Norm Scully are the older male detectives at Precinct 99. Both detectives are just as lazy as the other. Hitchcock and Scully have been partners for almost 30 years. The show depicts how bad Hitchcock and Scully are at their jobs but despite that, they’re still kept around.
Sergeant Terrance Vincent “Terry” Jeffords
Terry Jeffords is a seargeant at 99th Precinct. Prior to the series, his wife had twin baby girls and he couldn’t imagine not seeing them grow up, who was a linebacker. Terry is caring, hardworking, and protective over the squad. He has a habit of referring to himself in third person.
Regina “Gina” Linetti
Gina is the 99th Precinct’s civilian administrator. She has shown to be quite narcissistic but is generally tolerable amongst the rest of the staff. She does very little other than play on her phone, bully Charles, flirt with Terry, and constantly praising herself.
