Details About Mary Queen Of Scots

The upcoming film will be based on John Guy’s biography “My Heart Is My Own: The Life of Mary Queen of Scots”.

The film will be premised on the 16th century rivalry between Queen of Scots and the Virgin Queen. However, it didn’t have to be, as mentioned by director Josie Rourke, “They were both, in their own ways, making huge sacrifices to try to operate in this male-dominated world,”

“It’s not one against the other. It’s both of them against a particular environment that pitted them against each other.”

Saoirse Ronan, who won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for 2017’s Lady Bird, plays Mary, Queen of Scots. Margot Robbie, on the other hand, who received nominations for the Academy Award, plays Queen Elizabeth of England.

Filming locations took place around the UK, including: Edinburgh, Glencoe (Highlands), Strathdon (Aberdeenshire), Derbyshire, London, and Oxford.
