About The Crown

Netflix’s The Crown has become one of the most talked about series upon its release in 2016. The show is a lush drama that examines the events that took place behind Buckingham Palace’s closed doors during Queen Elizabeth’s reign.

The show was filled with an incredible cast ensemble: Claire Foy, Vanessa Kirby, and Matt Smith, who have received high critical praise and awards for their renditions of the royal family.

As the storyline progresses further in history, the decision was made to recast the main characters every two seasons in order to portray them and reflect the past time.

Meet the New Cast

Several cast members have already been announced: Broadchurch star Olivia Colman will step in as Queen Elizabeth, Helen Bonham Carter will play Princess Margaret, and Tobias Menzies was announced as Prince Philip.

Will There Be Any New Characters?

People reported that season three would give us our first peek at Princess Diana, who is said to be a focus in the later seasons of the show. However, writer Peter Morgan has since said that audiences might not see her until season four.

The next season would apparently introduce Prince Charles’ other love interest, Camilla Parker Bowles. The Crown’s producer, Suzanne Mackie in April confirmed, “Peter’s already taking about the most wonderful things. “Mackie said of Morgan’s work on season 3.

No official date has been confirmed yet, though it has been said that season 3 won’t premiere until 2019.
