What is Postmodern Jukebox?

Postmodern Jukebox is a rotating musical collective that switched up popular modern music into different vintage genres. Arranger and pianist Scott Bradlee founded the group in 2011. What pushed Bradlee to start a group like PMJ? To quench his old soul and to bring back the classics into the mainstream. He started shooting these videos with some of his friends from college. The original group consisted of bassist Chris Anderson, saxophonist Ben Golder-Novic, harpist Brandee Younger, and vocalist Emma Walker.

The video that shot PMJ to fame was in 2009 which was “a medley of ’80s songs done ragtime style.” It gained the attention of famous author Neil Gaiman and that was the beginning of PMJ’s public recognition. Robyn Adele Anderson’s cover of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ Thrift Shop was PMJ’s first viral video. It gained 1 million views in just its first week and 4 million in a year.

At present, they have a more than a following of 3.5 million on YouTube and have covered more than 50 songs.
