Synopsis of Serenity
Serenity follows the life of fishing boat captain Baker Dill who leads tours to a pristine tropical enclave named Plymouth Island. He has built a peaceful life for himself. This all changes when his quiet life is disrupted the moment his ex-wife Karen makes a reappearance in his life. Desperate to escape, Karen pleads Baker to help her and their son from her new violent husband by taking him out to the sea on a fishing trip and feed him to the sharks. Memories of the life Baker once had and has forgotten resurfaces and makes him question what is right from wrong.

After working together on Interstellar (2014), Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club) and Anne Hathaway (Ocean’s 8) reunite on the big screen as Baker Dill and Karen, respectively. Jason Clarke (White House Down) plays as Karen’s current husband. Other cast members include Diane Lane, Djimon Hounsou, and Jeremy Strong. Details about the other characters and what their role and significance are are yet to be revealed. Uma Thurman was originally casted as Baker Dill’s love interest. However, she had to decline because of scheduling conflicts. She is then replaced by Diane Lane who is known for her work in Paris Can Wait (2016).
Steven Knight wrote and directed the film while produced by Greg Shapiro and Guy Heeley produced it. The film was shot in the beautiful island of Mauritius located in East Africa.
